FULTON, N.Y. — Oswego Health announced it plans to open a second Fulton primary-care office, called PrimeCare, at 98 N. 2nd St. on April 5.

The organization cites a “continued demand for primary-care services throughout Oswego County” for its decision to add a second Fulton location.

Oswego Health already offers primary-care services at the Fulton Medical Office Building, located at 522 S. 4th St. in Fulton.

“Oswego Health is expanding our primary-care services throughout the region and we are excited to open a second PrimeCare in Fulton to meet the health-care needs of the residents,” Michael Backus, executive VP and COO of Oswego Health, said.

Before the decision to open a second location in Fulton, Oswego Health “heavily analyzed” the community’s need for health-care services by conducting a community-needs survey. It found 79 percent of respondents indicated they travel outside the county for health-care services.

Last year, 22 percent of Fulton residents who visited the emergency room had indicated they had no primary-care provider, and 23 percent who visited one of the urgent-care locations said the same thing, the survey found. The analysis “helped identify there was a need” for additional primary-care services for the residents of this community.

Besides the Fulton locations, Oswego Health also offers primary-care services at Oswego Family Physicians, which is located at 110 W. Utica St. in Oswego.
