Owner of Oneida County construction company arrested for grand larceny

LEE, N.Y. — The New York State Police announced that they have arrested the owner of Taylor Construction in Camden for taking and keeping money from a homeowner for roof-replacement work he didn’t do.

State Police in Lee on Friday arrested Roberto L. Taylor, age 48 of Rome, for 3rd degree grand larceny, a felony.

Taylor in June entered into a contract with a homeowner in the town of Lee to replace a roof on the individual’s residence. Taylor received a down payment of $6,000 for the job, State Police say. For nearly three and a half months, no work was completed, no materials arrived at the home, and Taylor is accused of making no effort to refund the money.

State Police say they took Taylor into custody at his home in Rome. He was arraigned in Oneida County CAP Court and released on his own recognizance. Taylor is scheduled to appear in the Town of Lee Court on Wednesday afternoon.
