NEW HARTFORD — The U.S. Navy has awarded Rome Research Corp. (RRC), a subsidiary of PAR Technology Corp. (NYSE: PAR), a $5.2 million contract.

Under the five-year deal, RRC will provide operation and maintenance support for the Naval Radio Transmitter Facility (NRTF) in Puerto Rico, which includes a low frequency fixed submarine broadcasting system (FSBS).

The FSBS provides strategic and tactical communications to U.S. and allied submarine forces in the Atlantic, PAR said in a news release.

The NRTF site in Puerto Rico is a remote facility under command of the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Atlantic (NCTAMS LANT) in Norfolk, Va.

PAR Technology is “pleased” that the U.S. Navy has selected RRC as its contractor to furnish operations and maintenance services providing “reliable, uninterrupted” FSBS communications to the warfighter, Steve Lynch, president of PAR’s government operations, said in the news release.

The Puerto Rico site consists of an AN/FRT-95 series transmitter, a 1,200-foot base-insulated antenna, and associated hardware, equipment and facilities.
