PAR Technology unit secures data-synchronization patent license

NEW HARTFORD — ParTech, Inc., a subsidiary of PAR Technology Corp. (NYSE: PAR), has inked a deal to license a patented web and wireless-data synchronization system from a California firm.

The technology — dubbed the 21st Century Communications system — was invented by San Diego–based digital hospitality-system provider Ameranth, Inc. and has obtained several patents.

The system can perform an array of hospitality functions such as ordering, reservations and ticketing through wireless and web platforms.

This deal is Ameranth’s 15th patent license to date, the company said in a news release issued Monday. The financial terms were not disclosed.

Due to the growing market demand for mobile transactions, the web and wireless-data synchronization technology is adopted by many hospitality businesses, Ameranth says.

“Reaching an agreement with Ameranth for the use of its novel patents was important to Par, since we provide many of the restaurant and hotel industry’s top brands and renowned properties with our industry leading hospitality products, solutions and services,” Paul Domorski, chairman and CEO of PAR Technology, said in the news release.

PAR Technology, a hospitality management system provider headquartered in New Hartford, provides point-of-sale (POS) systems in more than 50,000 restaurants and over 110 countries, according to the company’s website.

Its ParTech subsidiary today announced it is rolling out a new POS system, called the PAR EverServ 500 POS terminal, aimed at independent and small chain restaurants.
