Pathfinder hires Hamer to develop commercial-banking business in the Mohawk Valley

OSWEGO, N.Y. — James M. Hamer, an experienced Mohawk Valley commercial banker, has been named business-development specialist at Pathfinder Bank.

Hamer’s main responsibilities will include developing new deposit and loan clients for Pathfinder, primarily in the Mohawk Valley — a region in which it doesn’t currently have any branch offices.

Hamer was previously VP of commercial banking for Adirondack Bank in Rome. He also had been a commercial-loan officer for Rome Savings Bank in New Hartford and VP and commercial-loan officer at KeyBank in Syracuse, according to a Pathfinder news release.

Hamer resides in New Hartford with his wife, Patricia. He is a graduate of Utica College with a bachelor’s degree in economics and a graduate of Mohawk Valley Community College with an associate degree in business. Hamer also completed graduate work at Syracuse University and studied commercial lending at the University of Buffalo.

Pathfinder Bank is a state-chartered savings bank headquartered in Oswego. The bank has eight branch offices in Oswego (2), Fulton, Mexico, Lacona, Central Square, Cicero, and Syracuse.
