CAMILLUS, N.Y. — The West Genesee Central School District in Camillus announced that its board of education has appointed Wayne Ackles as executive principal at West Genesee High School.
He will start his position on Aug. 26.
Ackles replaces Shannon Coholan, who was fired from her executive-principal post by the West Genesee board at a public meeting in March.
Ackles is currently the secondary principal at Honeoye Central School District in the Finger Lakes area for students in grades 6-12, according to a West Genesee news release. Before that, he served as assistant principal at Fairport High School near Rochester, and prior to that he was a principal for the Monroe BOCES #1 Cooperative Summer School.
Before entering administration, Ackles was a social-studies teacher who taught a variety of courses from the college to the local level at Fairport High School and Honeoye Central School District. He also taught an economics course at the BOCES 1 Summer School for accelerated seniors, per the release.
Ackles earned a bachelor’s degree in history, teaching certification, and master’s degree in education from SUNY Geneseo. He earned his certificate of advanced studies at SUNY Brockport.
