SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Alzheimer’s Association, Central New York Chapter announced it has named Martha Hutchinson its community engagement manager, a newly created position on its programs and services team.
In this role, Hutchinson will oversee the CNY chapter’s volunteer program, grassroots outreach, and engagement of diverse and underserved communities, according to a chapter news release.
She will also direct “ALZTOGETHER,” the chapter’s social-engagement program for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia. ALZTOGETHER facilitates museum visits, cultural experiences, and hands-on activities seeking to create “meaningful connections between the individual living with the disease and their caregiver.”
Hutchinson joined the Alzheimer’s Association CNY Chapter in 2016 as its volunteer and outreach coordinator. She previously was the youth and community programs manager for the Peninsula School of Art in Door County, Wisconsin. Hutchinson, a native of Ellison Bay, Wisconsin, earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities.
