SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Ashley McGraw Architects, D.P.C. announced it has appointed Calvin Ahn as a principal in the firm.

Ahn becomes one of six principals at Ashley McGraw, Derek Goodroe, marketing manager of Ashley McGraw Architects, tells CNYBJ in an email. The architecture firm operates on the 15th floor of Barclay Damon Tower at 125 East Jefferson St. in Syracuse.

Ahn joined Ashley McGraw in 2002. As a principal, he will continue in his role leading projects in the higher-education market.

“Calvin’s career has paralleled some of the best thinking in sustainable design at Ashley McGraw. Calvin is a masterful manager of aspirational projects. Having his diverse expertise on the leadership team will make the entire firm stronger,” Matthew Broderick, president of Ashley McGraw Architects, said in a statement.

Ahn’s efforts with Ashley McGraw have focused on projects that include the LEED Platinum-certified, new MacArthur Elementary School in Binghamton; the LEED Platinum, new Syracuse Center of Excellence in Syracuse; and the LEED Gold Le Moyne College Coyne Science Building addition.

LEED is short for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, a green-building certification developed by the Washington, D.C.–based nonprofit U.S. Green Building Council.

Ahn is currently leading the design team for a research facility at Binghamton University, Ashley McGraw said.
