SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The board of directors of Believe in Syracuse has hired John DeSantis as its first executive director.
DeSantis founded Believe in Syracuse, a nonprofit organization that says it “promotes positive perceptions and improves the quality of life in the greater Syracuse area.”
DeSantis has been hired for the executive-director role on a part-time basis. He runs the day-to-day operations of the organization, helping to advance its mission in the community, it said in a news release. DeSantis previously served as president of the Believe in Syracuse board.
Prior to starting Believe in Syracuse in 2013, he was the upstate New York regional field director for President Barack Obama’s “Organizing for America” organization. DeSantis is a graduate of Jamesville-DeWitt High School and Syracuse University.
