People news: Berkshire Bank parent company names executive VP, head of retail banking

Berkshire Hills Bancorp, Inc. (NYSE: BHLB) — the parent company of Berkshire Bank, which has a major presence in the Mohawk Valley — announced it has hired Lucia (Lucy) Bellomia as EVP, head of retail banking.

Bellomia has more than 20 years of experience in the financial industry, most recently as the executive SVP of community banking for the Northeast Region for Bank of America.

Bellomia will oversee Berkshire’s retail branch network, branch training, the MyBanker program, call center, branch operations, retail sales, and service delivery. Boston–based Berkshire Bank operates 107 branch offices in New England and New York state, including 10 branches in the Utica–Rome metro area.

Her other previous jobs included working at the Police and Fire Credit Union in Philadelphia, Santander Bank, PNC Bank, and Sun National Bank. She started her career in banking at Pioneer Savings and Loans as a teller.

Bellomia, a native of Italy, is a graduate of the University of Catania in Sicily.
