People news: Blitman & King names LaClair partner

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Brian J. LaClair has become a partner in the law firm of Blitman & King LLP.

LaClair represents unions in both the private and public sectors in a broad variety of labor and employment matters, the firm said in a news release. He also represents individual employees in all areas of workplace law.

LaClair is a member of the A.F.L.-C.I.O. Lawyer’s Coordinating Committee, the Federal Court Bar Association (NDNY), the Onondaga County Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association, the release stated. He is active in the ABA’s Employment Rights and Responsibilities Committee.

LaClair obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Rochester and his law degree from the Syracuse University College of Law.

Prior to joining Blitman & King, he was law clerk to U.S. District Judge David N. Hurd, and worked at a major law firm in New York City.

Blitman & King, headquartered in the Franklin Square area of Syracuse, has 14 Central New York attorneys and 20 total lawyers, according to CNYBJ Research. It ranked as the 18th largest law firm in CNY, according to the new 2015 Book of Lists.

The firm, which focuses on labor and employment law, also has offices in Rochester, Albany, and New York City.
