CARTHAGE, N.Y. — Carthage Area Hospital announced it recently added general surgeon, Dr. Lewis C. Zulick to its medical staff.

Before joining Carthage Area Hospital, Dr. Zulick was the president and CEO of Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic from 2013-2015 and is currently serving as chief of surgery at Rochester Regional Health, according to a Carthage Area Hospital news release.

He specializes in minimally invasive and laparoscopic general surgery to include breast surgery. He also specializes in varicose vein treatment and a specialized hemorrhoid treatment surgery.

Zulick will provide services for patients in need of general surgery in the North Country. He will be seeing patients at the Carthage Surgical Clinic at 1001 West St. in Carthage, the hospital said.

Zulick received his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, followed by an internship in general surgery at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown. His postgraduate training continued with a residency at University of Rochester, Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City, and Bassett Hospital, where he was chief resident from 1988-1989. Zulick also completed his master’s degree in medical management in 2005 from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

Zulick also served three years of active duty in the U.S. Navy and eight years in the Navy Reserves.
