HAMILTON, N.Y. — Colgate University announced it has named Laura H. Jack VP for communications, effective Feb. 6.
Jack is currently VP of development and alumni relations at Howard University in Washington, D.C. She has been leading Howard’s communications efforts since 2014, when she was hired as assistant VP of marketing and branding, according to a Colgate news release. In 2015, she took on the additional responsibility of leading the university’s development and alumni-relations operations. Working directly for the president of Howard, Jack has been responsible for developing and managing the university’s communications efforts to increase enrollment and raise funds.
“Laura is a leader in the field of higher education communication, and she will be a welcome addition to the senior administration,” Colgate President Brian W. Casey said in the release.
Prior to Howard, Jack developed and executed communications and recruitment strategies for the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences at Johns Hopkins University. Previously, she served for seven years as director of marketing and communications at the City University of New York’s School of Professional Studies.
Before her move to higher-education communications positions, Jack held communications, media, and sales jobs in several corporate and for-profit settings, Colgate said.
Jack is a graduate of Pace University, where she concentrated her undergraduate studies in marketing, advertising, and promotions. She also holds an MBA in marketing management and a master’s degree in higher-education administration from Baruch College, and completed two years of coursework toward a doctorate degree in education at Johns Hopkins University.
Colgate says it offers 54 majors to a student body of about 2,900 undergraduate students.
