People news: Columbia College-Hancock Field appoints Calo as campus admissions manager

DeWITT, N.Y. — Deborah Calo has been named campus admissions manager for Columbia College-Hancock Field. She will be responsible for planning and organizing all aspects of recruitment, admissions, and enrollment management at the Hancock Field campus.

In addition to her recruitment duties, Calo also will participate in community relations functions, organize and attend education fairs, and help develop marketing plans.

Prior to this new role, Calo served as senior coordinator of academic services at Syracuse University in the Office of Disability Services for 14 years. Also, from 1990-2000, she worked as a career services consultant at OCM BOCES Career Training Center assisting clients with every step of assessment, counseling, and career placement.

Calo holds a master’s degree in counseling and psychological services from State University of New York at Oswego and a bachelor’s in business administration from Columbia College.

Columbia College of Missouri (www.ccis.edu) says it first began educating service members at Hancock Air Force Base in 1975. When the active duty base closed in 1983, the campus moved to the Air National Guard base. In early 2012, the college opened a new facility on the west side of the base, off Townline Road, which allows for easier access for both base personnel and civilians, the college says.

Columbia College of Missouri-Hancock Field offers six associate, nine bachelor’s, and two master’s degree programs in-seat; additional associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees also are available online.
