People news: Community Bank promotes Friot to chief technology officer

DeWITT, N.Y. — Community Bank N.A. announced it has promoted Aaron Friot to VP and chief technology officer.

Friot will oversee the strategic direction of the bank’s technology and electronic banking. He was previously Community’s director of IT since 2011.

Friot began working at Community Bank as a computer specialist in Canton in 2003, after receiving his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Clarkson University. He later served as the bank’s information security officer and manager of technology support.

“Throughout his tenure, Aaron has been a driving force behind the transformation of our technology infrastructure and our growth. His technical skills, work ethic and capacity to get things done will serve him well in this important role,” Mark Tryniski, Community Bank’s president and CEO, said in a news release.

Friot will chair the bank’s strategic technology committee and sit on its senior management committee.

Community Bank N.A., a subsidiary of Community Bank System Inc. (NYSE: CBU), says it has more than 230 branches across upstate New York, northeastern Pennsylvania, Vermont, and western Massachusetts. Headquartered in DeWitt, the banking company has more than $10 billion in assets.
