SYRACUSE, N.Y. — David de Silva — CPA and member/owner at Syracuse–based Dermody, Burke & Brown, CPAs, LLC — was appointed chairman of the State Board Committee (SBC) of the Board of Examiners (BOE), the accounting firm announced.
The BOE is a senior committee of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), responsible for overseeing, administering, and developing the certified public accountant (CPA) exam. The SBC is the communications liaison between National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) and the AICPA. As chairman of the SBC, de Silva is an ex-officio voting member of the BOE and serves on the Executive Committee of the BOE.
De Silva has more than 37 years of experience providing accounting, auditing, and consulting services to a range of not-for-profit organizations. He currently leads Dermody, Burke & Brown’s not-for-profit specialty niche that serves more than 100 organizations in Central New York, the firm says. De Silva is a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA), the AICPA, and received the AICPA certificate of achievement in governmental and nonprofit accounting and auditing.
