MANLIUS, N.Y. — The Fayetteville-Manlius School District Board of Education has appointed Dr. Craig J. Tice to be its next superintendent, beginning July 1, according to an announcement posted on the F-M Schools website.
Tice is currently the Marcellus Central School District superintendent, a position he has held since 2006. He also served two years as the Marcellus assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction.
At its meeting Monday, the F-M board unanimously approved a three-year contract with Tice that includes an initial annual salary of $192,000.
The district’s current superintendent, Dr. Corliss Kaiser, announced in August that she will retire on June 30 after 46 years working in the field of education, including 10 as the F-M superintendent. She joined the district on July 1, 2005.
The board worked with a consulting team from the Illinois–based search firm Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates to find a replacement for Kaiser, according to the web announcement.
Tice holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry with a minor in secondary education from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio; a master’s degree in public administration from Syracuse University’s (SU) Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs; a master’s degree in science education from SU; and a doctorate in science education from SU.
