People news: Generations Bank hires community event coordinator

Rick Newman

SENECA FALLS, N.Y. — Generations Bank announced it has hired Rick Newman as its community event coordinator, a new position the bank created as part of its commitment to the community.

“As a local bank, we are always looking for ways to get involved in our community and support the efforts of local nonprofits,” Derek Dyson, SVP and chief information officer at Generations Bank, said in a news release. “We’re excited to welcome Rick, an experienced event coordinator and community advocate, who will help us to further deliver on our promise to serve the local area.”

Newman brings 10 years of experience in the marketing and tourism industries. His event management experience ranges from annual dinners to live music shows, community events, and more.

Newman previously held positions at the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce and, most recently, worked as the marketing and event coordinator at Seneca Lake Resorts, a division of Sessler Companies. While with Seneca Lake Resorts, he developed and implemented the sales and marketing initiatives for Seneca Lake Resorts while coordinating all “Live at The Vista” music events with local entertainment and food vendors.

Originally from the Cortland area, Newman graduated from Homer High School and then attended Keuka College, where he received a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in entrepreneurship. He currently serves on the Seneca County Chamber Tourism Committee.
