People news: Guido van der Ven joins VIP Structures’ development team

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — VIP Structures on Tuesday announced that Guido van der Ven of Skaneateles has joined the firm as managing director of investor relations.

In his role at VIP, van der Ven will focus on investor development and handling inquiries from investors and prospects who might be interested in the firm’s current property-investment offerings and/or future investment opportunities.

Guido van der Ven has more than 25 years of experience in corporate finance and investor relations, according to a VIP news release.

He co-founded the financial-consulting group Education Investment Group, LLC and previously served as senior vice president of corporate finance at Sallie Mae, VIP said.

Sallie Mae is known formally as the Newark, Del.–based SLM Corporation (NASDAQ: SLM), which specializes in originating, servicing, and collecting on student loans.

Guido van der Ven is also an adjunct professor of economics at Onondaga Community College and has taught corporate finance at SUNY Oswego.

Syracuse–based VIP Structures, a design-build firm, handles architecture, construction, and development projects. It also provides engineering and property-management services for commercial, industrial, and institutional clients, according to its news release.
