HERKIMER, N.Y. — Herkimer County Community College (HCCC) recently announced a pair of new appointments.

The college hired William H. Blovat, of Ilion, as an electrician. He has more than 30 years of experience in residential, commercial, and industrial maintenance and construction. He is skilled in the installation and maintenance of electrical-wiring apparatus and equipment, the college said. Blovat has significant experience as an industrial electrical technician, as well as in machining, welding, plumbing, and building maintenance.

Blovat most recently worked at Mohawk Valley Health System as a facilities maintenance/electrical technician at the St. Elizabeth campus in Utica. He also previously worked for Remington Arms Company in Ilion, Burrows Paper Corp. in Little Falls, and H.M. Quackenbush, Inc. in Herkimer.

HCCC has also appointed Sara Gegler, of Mohawk, as administrative assistant to the dean of students/director of athletics. She will provide administrative support and assistance to the offices of the dean of students/director of athletics and the director of campus safety. Gegler previously held the position of office assistant in the humanities/social sciences division at HCCC since 2020.

Her prior experience includes serving as patient-access associate at Mosaic Health, secretary at Utica Pediatrics, and administrative office assistant at Bassett Healthcare. Gegler holds an associate of occupational studies degree in executive administrative specialist from Utica School of Commerce.
