People news: Ithaca College names new VP for enrollment management

ITHACA, N.Y. — Ithaca College announced it has appointed Rakin (Rock) Hall as VP for enrollment management.

Hall will begin his new role at Ithaca College on Feb. 1, where he will be responsible for leading teams in undergraduate and graduate admission, student financial services, constituent-engagement strategy, the Center for Career Exploration and Development, and the Center for Student Success and Retention.

Hall joins Ithaca College from Arcadia University, where he worked as VP for enrollment management since 2020. While at Arcadia, his accomplishments include increasing deposits by 24 percent and retention by 3 percent, reimagining the recruitment campaign to incorporate more faculty and parent involvement, increasing partnerships with community organizations, and working with campus partners to establish a welcome center.

“We are excited that Rock will bring his 25 years of expertise and influence in the national enrollment sphere to his work at Ithaca College,” La Jerne Terry Cornish, college president, said in a news release. “He understands the landscape from coast to coast, and we can leverage his knowledge to attract prospective students from across the country to South Hill.”

Prior to his time at Arcadia University, Hall held admission, enrollment management, and student-success positions at the University of Utah, University of Southern California, William Paterson State University, and Humboldt State University.

Hall holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and communications from Humboldt State and a master’s degree in higher education administration from the University of Southern California.

Founded in 1892, Ithaca College offers 70 degree programs to about 5,000 students.
