People news: J.W. Burns & Company hires Barker, Derrenbacker

Barker started in the investment management business as an institutional broker at A.G. Edwards & Sons, working with banks, pension plans, and insurance companies in Switzerland, Germany, and Austria. He has more than 12 years of experience analyzing markets and creating investment plans utilizing both fundamental and technical analysis, according to a J.W. Burns release. In his new position, Barker will focus on individual stock research as well as portfolio management. He holds bachelor’s degrees in economics and chemistry from the University of Rochester.

After spending several years working for J.W. Burns as a college intern, Derrenbacker joined the firm full time upon graduation. As an analyst, he is directly involved in individual stock analysis and market research. Derrenbacker holds a bachelor’s degree from Colgate University, where he majored in political science and had minor in economics.
