People news: Karen Scaff named COO of Springside at Seneca Hill

VOLNEY, N.Y. — Oswego Health has appointed Karen Scaff as chief operating officer of its Springside at Seneca Hill retirement community affiliate. She will also be a VP with the parent organization.

Scaff replaces Teresa Ferlito, longtime Oswego Health VP and Springside COO, who retired April 30. To ensure a smooth transition, Ferlito is working alongside Scaff during her initial weeks on the job, according to an Oswego Health news release.

Springside is a retirement community that offers both one and two-bedroom apartments, as well as cottage and duplex-style homes for those age 62 and older. It’s located on Route 45A in the Oswego County town of Volney, halfway between Fulton and Oswego

After living and working in Atlanta, Georgia for nearly 15 years, Scaff returned to Oswego last year. She most recently worked as a practice and property manager at Lake Ontario Property Associates in Oswego. Previously, she was a retirement-services manager for McCamish Systems, an Infosys company and a benefits specialist for Aon Consulting, both located in Atlanta, according to the release.

“This multi-faceted position [at Oswego Health and Springside] allows me to use my human resource, marketing and finance experiences,” Scaff said.

Scaff earned an MBA degree from Georgia State’s J.M. Robinson College of Business. She previously obtained her bachelor’s degree from SUNY Cortland.
