People news: Leadership Greater Syracuse hires new marketing coordinator

DeWITT, N.Y. — Leadership Greater Syracuse (LGS), a nonprofit offering a yearlong civic-engagement training program, announced that it recently hired Kristen Vella as a marketing coordinator.

She will be responsible for ensuring the overall office efficiency and marketing of the organization and provide support for the main LGS program, the CNY Political Leadership Institute, and Nourishing Tomorrow’s Leaders. Vella will serve as the primary manager of the organization’s customer-resource management database, will lead all social-media activities, and will support all fundraising efforts, LGS said.

Vella previously worked as the promotions manager for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, a Single A minor-league baseball affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. There, she was responsible for creating and executing an overall marketing strategy for the club. Vella also worked in similar roles for the Rochester Americans hockey team, the Buffalo Bills football training camp, and was the assistant director of the Cardinal Race for Courage in Rochester.

Vella is a graduate of St. John Fisher College, near Rochester.
