People news: Marriott Syracuse Downtown names Becque director of sales and marketing

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Marriott Syracuse Downtown, the former Hotel Syracuse, announced that it has named Scott Becque as its new director of sales and marketing.

Becque is a “proven sales leader” with more than two decades of experience leading hotel sales and marketing efforts through acquisitions, renovations, and rebranding efforts, the Marriott said.

Most recently, Becque was director of sales and marketing for the Hilton Hasbrouck Heights in New Jersey, where he led the sales effort in the hotel’s transition to Hilton management. He also has served as director of sales and marketing for the Wyndham Andover (Boston) and Hilton Woodcliff Lake (New Jersey).

In 2009, Becque joined Marshall Hotels and Resorts as regional director of sales and marketing. There, he directed a region of 16 branded, independent, full- and limited-service hotels for the Salisbury, Maryland–based company. Becque served in the same role for two other hotel management companies: Columbia Sussex Corporation (2001-08) and New Castle Hotels (1998-2001).

He is a graduate of Ithaca College.
