NEW BERLIN, N.Y. — Duane Meszler has joined Preferred Mutual as a personal lines underwriting manager, the Norwich–based insurer announced.

He will be responsible for managing the New York and New Jersey underwriting teams and supporting company growth initiatives. Meszler will also work on product development in Preferred Mutual’s personal lines business.

Meszler brings more than 17 years of underwriting and agency experience in the insurance industry, Preferred Mutual said in a news release. He previously worked as a manager of MBP underwriting and administration for a Midwestern insurance carrier. Prior to that, he was a licensed independent insurance agent after having gained experience on the insurance carrier side of the business.

Meszler earned a bachelor’s degree in history and government from Campbell University.
