People news: M&T Bank elects Scannell to board

BUFFALO, N.Y. — M&T Bank Corp. (NYSE: MTB) announced it has elected John R. Scannell, of East Aurora, to its board of directors, effective Nov. 20.

He was also elected to the board of M&T Bank, its principal banking subsidiary.

Scannell serves as chairman and CEO of Moog Inc. (NYSE: MOG.A), a global manufacturer of control systems and components for aircraft, spacecraft, automated machinery, and medical equipment based in Western New York, the bank said in a news release.

In addition to his MBA from Harvard, Scannell holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from the University College at Cork, Ireland.

Buffalo–based M&T Bank operates branches in New York, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Connecticut, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia. It ranks number one in deposit market share in the 16-county Central New York area.
