People news: M&T Bank hires Appley as government banking relationship manager

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — M&T Bank announced it has appointed Julie Sowers Appley as VP and senior government banking relationship manager at its branch office at 101 South Salina St. in Syracuse.

Appley is responsible for building, maintaining, and developing relationships with current and prospective government customers throughout Central New York and the Southern Tier, the bank said.

She brings more than 26 years of experience to her new role, having most recently served as a licensed broker at Haylor, Freyor & Coon. Appley previously spent seven years at Citizens Bank and 15 years at Bank of America as a government banking relationship manager.

Appley has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Utica College.
