People news: M&T Bank hires Meister for management group, to head Wilmington Trust wealth unit

BUFFALO, N.Y. — M&T Bank Corp. (NYSE: MTB) announced that Doris P. Meister will join the company’s management group as an executive VP, effective Aug. 15, and will head its Wilmington Trust wealth-management businesses.

Meister comes to Wilmington Trust from BNY Mellon, where she served since 2009 as president of U.S. markets for BNY Wealth Management. She has 40 years of financial and executive-management experience, Buffalo–based M&T said in a news release.

Originally from Michigan, Meister graduated from Smith College with a bachelor’s degree in economics, and earned an MBA in finance and marketing from the University of Chicago Booth Graduate School of Business.

“Since Wilmington Trust joined M&T, we have accomplished much together, and have focused on serving our clients and developing a strong infrastructure,” M&T Chairman and CEO Robert G. Wilmers said in the release. “To help capitalize on our opportunities going forward, we are adding Doris Meister to our Wilmington Trust team. She brings a long record of performance, expertise and commitment to clients — which are among the attributes we value most in the M&T family.”

Meister joins William J. Farrell II, executive VP, as the second member from Wilmington Trust on M&T’s management group, which is comprised of the company’s top 15 executives.

M&T Bank operates banking offices in New York, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Connecticut, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia. M&T ranks number one in deposit market share in the 16-county Central New York area.
