ROME, N.Y. — Steven J. DiMeo, president of Mohawk Valley EDGE, has been chosen by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) to join its newly launched Civic Leader Program, MV EDGE announced Friday.

The Civic Leader Program’s goals are to increase community connections, promote an awareness of the lab’s ongoing innovations and advancements, and support community advocacy partnerships, according to an MV EDGE email newsletter.

The Air Force Research Laboratory is the primary scientific research and development center for the Department of the Air Force and plays an integral role in leading the discovery, development, and integration of affordable warfighting technologies for air, space, and cyberspace forces. AFRL has more than 11,500 employees at 40 sites around the world, including Rome.

Mohawk Valley EDGE is a Rome–based not-for-profit economic-development corporation that was established in 1995 and is dedicated to strengthening and growing the economy of the Mohawk Valley. MV EDGE was one of the recipients of the 2022 Mohawk Valley GEAR Awards, given out by CNYBJ and BizEventz in May to honor organizations that have helped to reimagine, reinvigorate, and revitalize the Mohawk Valley.
