UTICA, N.Y. — Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) announced it has appointed Jean Leandre as director of student engagement and outreach.
Leandre will work with students to grow and strengthen campus and community experiences by encouraging and developing participation in clubs, organizations, and student government, MVCC said in a news release. He will also be the primary liaison to high schools in Oneida and Madison counties who participate in the College Connection and Magnet Bridge programs, and direct the planning and implementation of college outreach efforts, coordinating activities with area schools and community-based organizations.
Leandre previously worked as associate director of student affairs at the Bronx Educational Opportunity Center as part of Bronx Community College, and as a case manager and adjunct high-school equivalency instructor at the SUNY North Bronx Career Counseling and Outreach Center. Leandre also previously worked at MVCC, including as events coordinator, the release stated.
He earned his associate degree in business management from MVCC, his bachelor’s degree in accounting from SUNYIT, and his master’s and education specialist degrees from Liberty University in Virginia.
