People news: MVHS appoints strategic financial manager, accounting manager

In her new role, Day, CPA is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and monitoring productivity throughout MVHS, the organization said in a news release. She will also coordinate and oversee system-wide complex financial activities, including the new downtown hospital project and the consolidation of two acute-care facilities.

Day has been an employee of MVHS since 2010, most recently as its accounting manager. She previously worked at Fust Charles Chambers, LLP, in Syracuse, as a financial auditor, specializing in the health-care industry. Day earned her MBA degree and bachelor’s degree in accounting from SUNY Oswego.

In his new job, Leogrande, CPA will provide overall planning, direction, coordination, management, and supervision for the MVHS Finance Department accounting staff, the system said. He will also direct the accounting functions of the facility in accordance with acceptable accounting and cost-reimbursement principles for the healt-care industry.

Before joining MVHS, Leogrande served as a dealership controller at Lithia Motors in Yorkville. Prior to that, he worked at D’Arcangelo & Co., in Rome. Leogrande is an adjunct professor of accounting at Utica College in Utica. He earned his MBA in professional accountancy as well as his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Utica College.
