People news: Nelson & Strife Financial Group names new partner

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. — The Nelson & Strife Financial Group recently promoted longtime associate Kyle R. Strife to partner and renamed the firm from its previous moniker, Nelson Financial Group.

To celebrate the news, the firm held a ribbon-cutting event with the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce on Aug. 8 at its office at 9273 Kellogg Road in New Hartford.

The firm was founded in 2002 by Thomas J. Nelson, a financial adviser and former Utica comptroller. The Nelson & Strife Financial Group says it offers life-insurance planning, investment services, and business services.

Strife, a life-long resident of the Mohawk Valley, joined the firm in 2008 after graduating from Utica College. He is also a graduate, and current board member, of Leadership Mohawk Valley, a civic-leadership training program. He currently serves on the board of the CNY Vision Foundation, is the immediate past chairman of the Catalyst Group of the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce, and serves on the community investment committee of the Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties.
