People news: New orthopedic surgeon joins Rome Health team

Martin Ross

ROME, N.Y. — General orthopedic surgeon Martin Ross has recently joined Rome Health Orthopedic & Sports Medicine located in Chestnut Commons.

Dr. Ross comes to Rome Health from Mercy Health System of Southeast Pennsylvania, where he served as a general orthopedic surgeon in a multi-specialty group practice.

“I chose to come to Rome Health because I love what I do but I just wasn’t enjoying the big city anymore,” Ross said in a press release. “Being at Rome Health, I plan to provide personal, directed care to the people of Rome and the surrounding communities.”

He specializes in orthopedic surgery with a sub-specialty focus on fractures and dislocations; arthroscopy of the shoulder, knee, and ankle; and arthroplasty of the shoulder, hip, and knee.

Ross earned his medical degree from the University at Buffalo and interned for general surgery at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn. He completed his orthopedic residency at Maimonides before going on to practice at Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, Connecticut for more than 20 years.

Rome Health is a nonprofit health-care system, providing services including primary, specialty, and long-term care. It is an affiliate of St. Joseph’s Health and an affiliated clinical site of New York Medical College.
