OSWEGO, N.Y. — Oswego Health has recently promoted Daniel McManus to therapy supervisor.
He started at Oswego Health as a mental-health clinician in 2019. In 2022, McManus received his mental-health counselor license and in 2023 he was promoted to clinical lead for outpatient services. Throughout this time, he’s also taught at SUNY Oswego as an adjunct professor.
Oswego Health stated in a news release that it makes it a priority to recognize staff members for their hard work and commitment to the organization and its patients. The health system noted that McManus is “one key staff member who continues to shine and has truly stepped up.”

As therapy supervisor, McManus will provide clinical supervision of therapists throughout the mental health division including inpatient, outpatient, and youth clinics. Overseeing a department of 23 therapists, McManus will collaborate with other members of the leadership team to ensure that high-quality, client-centered care is provided.
McManus graduated with a master’s degree in mental-health counseling from SUNY Oswego in 2014. Before that, he earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2012 and his bachelor’s degree in recombinant gene technology from SUNY Fredonia in 1996, according to his LinkedIn profile.
“I have the utmost confidence in Daniel, and he is perfect for this leadership role,” Clark Sargeant, executive director of mental health and wellness at Oswego Health, said in the release. “Daniel is very passionate about patient advocacy and transforming mental healthcare.”
The mental health and wellness services department at Oswego Health says it provides a wide range of psychiatric services to Central New York residents of all ages. With more than 100 staff members, the department is certified by the New York State Office of Mental Health and accredited by The Joint Commission to provide inpatient, outpatient, and children/youth psychiatric services.
