OSWEGO, N.Y. — Oswego Health has named Christopher Mitchell as its new director of physician recruitment.
The health-care organization made the announcement in a news release distributed on Thursday.
In this role, Mitchell will develop and implement strategies that assist in retaining and attracting new physicians to the nonprofit health system.
Through its physician-recruitment program, Oswego Health in recent years has recruited physicians in specialties that include otolaryngology, orthopedics, general surgery and primary care, the organization said in the news release.
Mitchell, an Oswego native, has worked in similar positions in both the greater Washington D.C. area and in southeast Virginia.
He most recently served as director of program management and business development for a multi-specialty medical group in which he assisted in the recruitment of more than 30 physicians, according to Oswego Health.
“I have worked almost exclusively with physician services, ranging from the overall practice management of hospital-based groups to the financial and business management of departmental performance,” Mitchell said in the news release. “I feel my greatest accomplishment has been my ability to develop strong and meaningful relationships with the medical staff and key stakeholders.”
Mitchell earned his undergraduate degree from SUNY Oswego and his MBA degree from Union Graduate College, which offers an MBA program that specializes in health care.
