People news: Ramirez promoted to senior VP for hospitality at Turning Stone

VERONA, N.Y. — The Turning Stone Resort Casino announced it has promoted Karen Ramirez to senior vice president for hospitality.

Ramirez has served as vice president of hospitality at Turning Stone since 2007, managing daily operations and planning for the resort’s five golf courses and four hotels, the Oneida Nation said in a news release.

The hotels include the Tower Hotel and The Lodge at Turning Stone, and two spas, the Ahsí Day Spa and Skaná.

Prior to joining Turning Stone, Ramirez served as vice president of operations for Canyon Ranch in Arizona and has more than 25 years of experience in the luxury spa and lodging industry, the release said.

Ramirez has played a “key” role in the Oneida Nation’s “transformation” of Turning Stone’s restaurant offerings. In her new position, she will oversee the resort’s food and beverage business, in addition to her previous responsibilities, the Oneidas added.

“In this new and expanded role, Karen will continue to help us realize our collective vision of making Central New York a global entertainment destination by creating the best possible visitor experience,” Ray Halbritter, Oneida Nation representative and Nation Enterprises CEO, said in the release.

Turning Stone offers more than 20 food and beverage options, ranging from fine dining at TS Steakhouse and Wildflowers, to casual dining at Upstate Tavern and Emerald, and convenience foods at Opals and Corner Market, the Oneida Nation said.

The Turning Stone most recently opened “Exit 33,” a venue that offers nightlife and dining choices.

“Exit 33” was part of a $25 million expansion project at the Turning Stone.
