People news: Rome Health appoints chief information officer

Nancy Levett

ROME, N.Y. — Nancy Levett, of Bridgeport, was recently named VP and chief information officer (CIO) at Rome Health, the health system announced.

She will be tasked with leading Rome Health’s health-information system initiatives to yield an infrastructure that supports caregivers in delivering the best-in-class quality, safety, and patient experience, the system said in a news release.

Levett has more than 35 years of experience in health care, serving most recently as regional IT operations director at St. Joseph’s Health for 14 years, where she was responsible for all strategic and operational information-services initiatives. During her career, she also provided operational leadership for revenue-cycle departments, including patient accounting and patient-access departments and the business office.

“Nancy’s breadth of experience in operations and information technology enables her to bring stakeholders together to develop systems and processes that support high reliability organizations,” Rome Health President/CEO AnneMarie Czyz said in the release. “We are at a pivotal time at Rome Health when we need to develop a strategic pathway forward to support our colleagues with an integrated health information system that enables them to deliver the best care out there, here.”

Over the next quarter, Levett will conduct a comprehensive analysis of the health system’s IT infrastructure and develop a five-year strategic plan with short-term and long-term goals. Working collaboratively with Mark Rowan, Rome Health’s chief technology officer, she will oversee implementation of that plan.

“My experience in operations helps me be a translator between those using information technology systems and those implementing and supporting them,” Levett said in the release. “The strategy for information systems is more than integrating multiple disparate systems. We want to unite people in creating effective workflows that enhance efficiency of operations and better coordination of patient care.”

Levett earned her bachelor’s degree in information systems from SUNY Fredonia in 1986 and graduated from New School for Social Research with a master’s degree in health administration in 1995.

Rome Health is a nonprofit health-care system based in Rome, providing services to patients throughout Central New York. It’s an affiliate of St. Joseph’s Health and an affiliated clinical site of New York Medical College.
