People news: Rome Memorial Hospital names Sovey new corporate compliance officer

ROME, N.Y. — Rome Memorial Hospital announced it has appointed Darlene Sovey as its new corporate compliance officer.

She comes to Rome Memorial from Central New York Cardiology, where she was executive director. Prior to that, Sovey was director of operations for Upstate Cerebral Palsy, Inc.

At Rome Memorial Hospital, Sovey will provide daily oversight for the hospital’s overall compliance and privacy programs. Working with the hospital’s trustees, legal counsel, employees, and medical staff, she will ensure that the hospital’s business and privacy practices follow all state and federal regulations, the hospital said in a news release.

Sovey says that one of the “most challenging” aspects of compliance in the hospital setting is keeping up with an ever-changing and evolving health-care regulatory environment.

A graduate of SUNYIT, Sovey earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting and has nearly completed course work for an MBA degree.
