People news: Rome Memorial names Pucillo director of Community Recovery Center

ROME, N.Y. — Rome Memorial Hospital (RMH) has named Charles Pucillo as the new director of its Community Recovery Center.

Mark Snyderman, the hospital’s vice president of planning and outpatient services, made the announcement in a news release distributed on Wednesday.

Pucillo brings more than 24 years of leadership and counseling experience in both public and private facilities to the outpatient center, which provides alcohol and substance-abuse counseling.

Pucillo in 2011 retired as program director of the Insight House Chemical Dependency Agency in Utica after 15 years with the agency.

Prior to his work with Insight House, Pucillo served for six years as director of the Alcohol Crisis Center in Utica.

Following his retirement, Pucillo’s “concern and compassion” for people dealing with addiction prompted him to pursue a job where he could continue offering help, according to RMH.

“I feel good, I’m healthy, I thought ‘why not get back into it.’  I still have a lot to give,” Pucillo said. “It means so much to me to be able to help people find a way out of the clutch of their additions so that they can truly be the best they can be.”

Pucillo is a CASAC, which is short for credentialed alcoholism and substance-abuse counselor through the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS).

Pucillo holds a bachelor’s degree in bible studies and pastoral ministry from Central Bible College in Springfield, Mo., according to RMH.

The Community Recovery Center provides substance-abuse counseling for adults and adolescents.

In addition, the CRC is the “only provider in the community” that offers a program for licensed professionals such as doctors, lawyers, nurses, or pharmacists, who suffer from alcohol and substance abuse, RMH said.
