People news: Smith Sovik Kendrick & Sugnet hires Raus

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Smith Sovik Kendrick & Sugnet PC announced it has added Marla E. Raus as an associate attorney.

Raus is a Syracuse native who graduated from Syracuse University and returned to practice law in Central New York after earning her law degree from the Wake Forest University School of Law.

Prior to joining Smith Sovik, Raus was an associate at Newman & Lickstein, a general practice law firm, focusing on commercial and other civil litigation. While in law school, Raus interned for the New York attorney general’s office and a local personal-injury law firm.

Her practice focuses on all areas of litigation including premises liability, motor-vehicle accidents, products liability, medical and professional malpractice, construction-site accidents, and contract law, Smith Sovik said.

Smith Sovik Kendrick & Sugnet, founded in 1946, says it is “an aggressive, innovative litigation boutique law firm.” It has more than 35 lawyers who defend individuals, professionals, corporations, and other entities against personal injury, malpractice and commercial claims in state and federal courts throughout New York state. Smith Sovik has offices in Syracuse, Buffalo, Long Island, and White Plains.
