SYRACUSE, N.Y. — SUNY Upstate Medical University recently announced it has named Dr. Amar Suryadevara, interim chair of the Department of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery.
He is an associate professor in the department. The appointment, went into effect Oct. 1. Dr. Suryadevara succeeds Dr. Sherard Tatum, who has returned to the university’s faculty, per a SUNY Upstate news release.
Suryadevara completed his otolaryngology and head and neck surgery residency at SUNY Upstate and his fellowship in facial plastics and reconstructive surgery in Seattle, Washington. He is currently board certified in both otolaryngology and head and neck surgery, as well as facial plastic reconstructive surgery.
Suryadevara joined the Upstate faculty in July 2009. He was named associate professor in the Department of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery in 2015. In addition, he is the Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery Residency program director and co-director of the Facial Plastic Surgery Fellowship. Suryadevara is also affiliated with Crouse Health, St. Joseph’s Health, and the VA Administration Medical Center.
