SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Syracuse University announced it has promoted Michele (Shelly) Sipley to director of financial aid.

She will oversee daily operations in the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Programs (OFASP), where her primary duties will include supervising more than 35 full-time staff. Sipley will also oversee development of strategic plans to best utilize institutional, state and federal resources and representation of the OFASP and Office of Enrollment Management on committees and task forces.

She will also be tasked with coordinating the administration of financial aid with the Graduate School, University College and the College of Law. She began her new position on July 18.

Sipley has 20 years of financial-aid experience, including three years at the University of New Orleans and the previous 17 years at Syracuse University in a variety of roles, according to Ryan Williams, associate VP of enrollment management at Syracuse.

Sipley holds a bachelor’s degree in management from Angelo State University in Texas.
