In this role, Westervelt will lead the communications, media relations, strategic messaging, and outreach efforts of both the IVMF and the OVMA in support of the school’s “longstanding commitment to veterans and their families.”

“We’re thrilled to have Wayne join the Syracuse team. As the director of communications for the IVMF and the Office of Veteran and Military Affairs, he brings both a wealth of experience, and a passion for our work,” Haynie said in the release.

Prior to joining Syracuse University, Westervelt was vice president for marketing and communications at Cazenovia College.
