People news: Upstate Family Health names new chief medical officer

UTICA, N.Y. — Upstate Family Health Center, Inc. announced it has appointed Lohrasb Ahmadian as its new chief medical officer (CMO), effective immediately.

“Dr. Ahmadian’s commitment to providing primary and chronic care to underserved and uninsured patients align seamlessly with our mission,” CEO Andreea Mera said in a news release. “His extensive experience and leadership in health care make him a valuable addition to our team.”

Ahmadian most recently served as CMO at K’ima:w Medical Center in Eureka, California, and has more than three decades of clinical and leadership experience in underserved communities in the U.S. and overseas.

“My passion for delivering quality health care to those in need has been the driving force throughout my career. I look forward to working collaboratively with the dedicated team at upstate Family Health Center and contributing to the advancement of affordable health care for all,” Ahmadian said in the release.

He received his doctor of medicine degree from Tehran University School of Medicine and his master’s degree in public health from Columbia University. He also earned a master’s degree in health-service management from New York University.

Ahmadian is board-certified in family medicine with two clinical and research fellowships at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Weill Cornell School of Medicine. He is a physician executive with experience overseeing clinical and public-health operations in underserved communities.

Upstate Family Health Center is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, federally qualified health center that offers services to individuals through locations in Utica and Rome, as well as school-based clinics.
