UTICA, N.Y. — Notre Dame Schools announced the appointment of David Gardinier as its new athletic director.

Gardinier spent 13 years coaching girls’ basketball, soccer, and softball at the high-school level at area schools including Rome Catholic, Westmoreland, Rome Free Academy, and Holland Patent. He also coached girls’ varsity soccer at Notre Dame from 2017-2019, junior varsity basketball from 2018-2019, and modified softball from 2018-2019.

Gardinier says he plans to continue Notre Dame’s tradition of academic and athletic success. “Notre Dame athletic teams are known for teamwork and good sportsmanship,” he said in a news release. “I come here to help them continue that success.”

The position holds special significance for Gardinier as his children Christos (2016 graduate) and Sofia (2020 graduate) both attended the school.
