UTICA, N.Y. — Planet Fitness, a Newington, N.H.–based franchise of fitness centers, will open a health club in Utica in December.

Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri made the announcement in a news release distributed Tuesday.

The Planet Fitness center, which will open in the Riverside Center in north Utica, will create between 15 and 20 jobs, according to Palmieri’s office.
