Preferred Mutual appoints Lopata SVP and CIO

NEW BERLIN — Preferred Mutual Insurance Co. recently named Jeffrey Lopata its senior vice president (SVP) and chief information officer (CIO).

He joined Preferred Mutual in 2005 as manager of the commercial lines e-business team, the company said in a news release.

Lopata, a graduate of St. John Fisher College, has more than 15 years of management experience in his field and the insurance industry, according to the company. Prior to joining Preferred Mutual, he worked for eight years at Utica National Insurance Group, where he managed web development and application development, according to his LinkedIn page. Lopata holds a bachelor’s degree in management with a concentration in marketing.

Preferred Mutual Insurance provides property and casualty insurance coverage to more than 250,000 individual and business customers through a network of more than 450 independent agents throughout New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, the company says. The mutual insurance company, in business since 1896, employs more than 260 employees and is headquartered in New Berlin.
