Ramada by Wyndham in Salina is being sold, will become a mixed-use property

SALINA, N.Y. — The property that’s home to the Ramada by Wyndham Liverpool/Syracuse in the town of Salina, will soon have a new owner with a new plan for the property.

The plan involves redevelopment for senior apartments and commercial/retail space in the building.

Ramada by Wyndham Liverpool/Syracuse, located at 441 Electronics Parkway, plans to close in December.

That’s according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) posting at the website of the New York State Department of Labor website.

Ramada by Wyndham is the doing/business/as name of the First Republic Corporation of America. The facility has previously operated as a Holiday Inn location.

The hotel and conference center “will be permanently closing on or about December 22,” with layoffs affecting 123 employees, per the WARN notice.

The facility has welcomed guests and hosted conferences for a number of years and has also been the host site for participants in the mid-July Syracuse Nationals car show.

In a Wednesday afternoon phone interview, Salina Town Supervisor Nick Paro told CNYBJ that the next owners are working with Town officials as they develop the project. A Staybridge Hotel, which is located on the same property, will continue functioning as a hotel, according to Paro.

At the same time, the new owners will convert the Ramada Inn into apartments for residents 55-and-older. They plan to make the building’s first floor available for commercial and retail space.

Paro also told CNYBJ that he wasn’t able to reveal the name of the property’s next owner.

The Town of Salina will hold a public hearing on Oct. 11 to get input on placing a zoning overlay district on the property to allow the development plans to proceed, Paro told CNYBJ.
