NEW HARTFORD — RealtyUSA, which describes itself as the largest independent real-estate company in New York, on Tuesday announced the acquisition of Assist 2 Sell Seller’s & Buyer’s 1st Choice Realty in New Hartford.

RealtyUSA didn’t disclose the financial terms of the transaction, nor specify the assets that it acquired in a news release announcing the acquisition.

The late Joseph Hamlin founded Assist 2 Sell Seller’s & Buyer’s 1st Choice Realty. Hamlin was a third-generation realtor and former owner of Hamlin & Scott Real Estate.

His wife, Mary Hamlin-Sunderman, became the broker/owner in 2007 and will remain licensed with the firm and continue in her same leadership role, according to RealtyUSA.

Hamlin-Sunderman and Lisa Kowalczyk, an associate broker and office manager at the New Hartford location, will coordinate training and services through Mark Re, RealtyUSA’s regional vice president.

“Utica–Rome is an important market that we have been looking to enter for some time,” Re said in the news release.

RealtyUSA has 54 offices and more than 1,900 agents in New York. The firm operates offices in the Buffalo/Niagara, Rochester, Syracuse, Binghamton, and Albany markets, as well as Montrose, Pa., the firm said.

Merle Whitehead, RealtyUSA president and CEO, independently owns and operates the real-estate firm.

Assist 2 Sell, Inc., headquartered in Reno, Nev., is a franchisor of Assist 2 Sell, a discount cost real-estate franchise, according to its website.
